CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Pre-Ballet

(3-4 year olds) Students learn basic ballet positions and steps using props and their imagination to express themselves through movement.

Beginner Ballet and Tap

(4-6 year olds) A continuation to learning the graceful art of ballet and beginning tap skills.

Ballet and Tap/Jazz

(7-8 year olds) Students acquire grace, flexibility, strength, balance and coordination as they continue developing ballet and tap skills with an introduction to jazz.

Ballet

Continuing to focus on clean technique and graceful lines.

Modern

A free, expressive style, also known as Contemporary Dance, is a more relaxed, free style of dance in which choreographers use emotions and moods to design their own steps. (For students Level 8 and up)

Lyrical

A dance style that has its primary basis in ballet, combining the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom and airier aspects of jazz, contemporary and modern dance. (For students Level 6)

Pointe

For students 12 years of age and up, must meet ballet technique and strength requirements to take this class.

Tap

Students will work on mastering rhythmic tap skills and will work on more intricate choreography as they advance.

Jazz

Students work on mastering the basics of jazz dance and adding more syncopation and style as they advance.

Hip Hop

Highly energetic, funky dance style with sharp, quick moves done to the latest hip hop music. (For level 4 and up)
NOTE:  Ballet is required through 9th grade, and for all students taking Modern and Lyrical Dance.
