Island School of Dance takes great pride in helping children of all ages develop physically mentally and emotionally through the art of dance. One way we do this is to provide our students with performance opportunities. We feel that our young aspiring dancers benefit tremendously by developing a strong work ethic as they work together as a team and towards a mutual goal. Our focus is to provide performance opportunities beyond our annual recital for those students who would like to take their dancing to the next level. We provide several opportunities to dance at local events as well as provide two out of town competitions for our company dancers to participate in.Most importantly, the Performance Company is a source for new friends, inspirtation, and establishing a supportive, uplifting atmosphere for all our participants. Our Company choreographer, Sarah Woodley, works hard to create fun, powerful routines and we expect a level of work ethic and commitment from the students in order to attain a positive and successful competition experience for all involved. We also strive to instill the importance of always “giving your best,” which makes us winners no matter the size of the trophy, and we consider awards as the “icing on the cake.”Members of the Company are required to take a minimum of 4 hours of dance per week, with additional choreography classes during the Competition season (typically September - mid-April). Auditions for placement are scheduled during the summer months. Please contact us if you would like additional information regarding our Performance Company.
Sponsorships and Fundraising
Out of town competitions and conventions are a great way for our students to learn and grow and to become more aware of the dance world at large. As you can imagine, fundraising is necessary so that these talented young dancers can find ways to afford the many expenses related to competing. Just as with other sports they have additional costs such as entry fees and travel expenses. These dancers hold several fundraisers throughout the year. However, these only cover a small portion of their expenses. We invite you to become a part of the Island School of Dance family as a sponsor! As you sponsor these young dancers, you and/or your business will enable these children to continue to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime activity.
